One of my goals for a long time has been to actually implement a nighttime routine. I have a hard time falling asleep and have heard that establishing a specific routine helps train your body that it’s time to go to sleep and thus help you fall asleep faster. While I still haven’t gotten one down that I do regularly, I thought I’d share my ~ideal~ routine to help hold myself accountable and to get some feedback from y’all and see if anyone else has a nightime routine that helps them.
So here’s what my routine would look like if I could get it together enough to repeat this more than once a week:
- Start by making my nighttea by Apothekary. This takes 15 minutes to steep so while it’s steeping…
- Do my evening skin care routine, complete with a sheet mask to lock in moisture overnight.
- Get into my pajamas and get into bed with my tea and read a book for 15-20 minutes.
- Brush my teeth and go to sleep.
This doesn’t seem like it would be too difficult to actually implement into my life, but it’s hard for me to remember to take the time to start the routine about an hour before I want to go to bed. Right now I tend to be in go mode until I realize I’m exhausted and ready to go to bed right now. So obviously I need to get better at recognizing when I’m tired earlier so that I have time to settle in for a whole winding down routine.
Do you have a bedtime/nighttime routine that helps you calm your brain down and get to sleep faster? I’d love to hear about it!
