You know when you’re scrolling through your social media (most likely Instagram) and you see a targeted ad or an influencer advertising a product and it looks really cool but you can’t tell if the product is actually any good or if they’re just great at marketing? Yes? Okay. I was thinking about this yesterday because I realized I actually have bought a fair number of products from ~internet brands~ that are all over social.
It can feel kind of risky to buy something from a targeted ad or from a blogger’s recommendation because while you may trust the blogger or influencer, they’re still getting paid for promoting the product and you don’t actually know them. I say this as someone who has 100% purchased things based on the recommendations of bloggers that I follow and feel like I trust, but there’s something much more reassuring about someone you actually know telling you that yes, I have bought this Instagram thing and yes, it is good.
So. Here are a few things that I’ve been ~influenced~ to purchase that I actually really do love and think are worth it.
Billie Razors. This is a razor subscription service marketed towards women. SO MANY influencers advertise this product so I’d wanted to try it out and then a friend told me she actually used them and loves it so of course I had to try. My favorite things about Billie: the razor has a magnet and a holder that attaches to your shower wall which helps keep it clean and in reach; the subscription means I never run out of razor heads and you can set how often they come; it’s super cheap (less than $10 for 4 razor heads); and it’s hands down the best shave I’ve had in my life. Here’s my referral code that I think saves us both money if you want to try it out too.
Birdies Shoes (Slippers). These are also all over my Instagram and Meghan Markle wears them so honestly that’s all the endorsement I need. Birdies are flats (loafers, mules) that have the lining of slippers so they’re beyond cozy and comfortable. They’re definitely on the pricey side so I was a bit wary about ordering a pair but I think they’re so pretty so I went for it and wow it’s worth it. I have the leather version of the loafer flat things(since it’s about to be rainy season) but I’m also super crushing on the velvet ones and the leopard print as well. These shoes are so comfortable I can wear them anywhere and there was literally no breaking in necessary. 10/10 would recommend worth the price.
Everlane. If you have an Instagram account you’ve probably seen an Everlane ad. Everlane does sustainable clothing at cost. They don’t mark up the prices like traditional retailers since they’re a direct-to-consumer brand. AND their clothing is beautifully constructed and perfect for basics and classic pieces. I’m super in love with their denim in particular since it’s way affordable and real denim. I also have my eye on some of their button ups and sweaters. (Here is my referral link if you’re interested so we can save some money.)
There are definitely more brands that I’ve found through bloggers or Instagram that I’ve tried and loved, so I’ll be back later to share more for sure. Is there something that you keep getting targeted ads for that you’re curious about? Let me know!
xoxo,
J
