It’s super hot in DC already so obviously I’m thinking about what drinks to make for happy hours and parties that make everyone forget that it’s 90 and humid and everyone has sweat through their clothing.
I’ve shared a few cocktail recipes already but I wanted to add some links and recipes for cocktails I’ll be making this summer:
- My easy sangria (but substituting white or pink wine for the red)
- This rosé and gin cocktail
- Champagne popsicles
- Using this orange simple syrup to make old fashioneds
Aperol Spritz
3 oz prosecco
2 oz aperol
1 oz club soda
orange rind or slice as a garnish
Cider Floats
1 bottle hard cider (extra points if you can find peanut butter hard cider)
1 scoop vanilla ice cream
Lazy Faux-Sangria
1 glass sweet white wine or rosé
Frozen raspberries or strawberries to use as ice
I’ll be making all of these this summer–for myself and for parties–because they’re all easy and delicious and many of them make you seem like a fancy bartender to your friends who don’t know any better. Also, don’t knock the peanut butter hard cider until you try it. I was skeptical but it might be my favorite thing that the Vineyard (and Brewery) at Hershey makes!
xoxo,
J
