These are the dinner rolls you make when you have no time but want dinner rolls.
Ingredients
Recipe
- Preheat oven to 400
- Combine warm water, oil, yeast, and sugar in a bowl. (The first time I made these I didn’t have my stand mixer so it’s 100% possible to do this by hand). Let sit for 15 minutes to activate the yeast.
- Add in 2 cups of flour, the salt, and the egg and mix. Add in the rest of the flour 1/2 cup at a time until combined. If you’re using a stand mixer just use your dough hook and let that do the work. If you’re mixing by hand you might actually have to knead it.
- Shape the dough into balls and place on your baking sheet. I usually make the dough balls fit in the palm of my hand but choose your own adventure!
- Let sit for 10-30 minutes depending on how much time you have.
- Bake for 10 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
- Take them out of the oven and let sit for 5 minutes. While they’re still warm, rub the top of each roll with your stick of butter to make them extra yummy.
I first made these dinner rolls for a delayed Christmas with Brandon’s family. We realized we wanted rolls with dinner about an hour before dinner was supposed to happen (which if you know anything about bread is not enough time to really make anything), so I did a quick google search and found a recipe that I tweaked a bit to make it work. Everyone loved them!
They turned out so great I made them again later for a dinner party that I threw! Seriously, they’re so easy and I love that they come together so quickly. I was really worried about the 2 TABLESPOONS of yeast–I thought it would make them taste horrible and too yeasty, but for some reason it works.
xoxo,
J
