Today’s episode of Housebound Happy Hour features cocktails made with whiskey! (You can use bourbon whiskey, scotch whiskey, honestly I’m not good enough at cocktails to know when to use what and it all tastes good so you do you.) Here are some whiskey-based cocktails I’ve made recently:
Old Fashioned
2 teaspoons simple syrup
2 dashes bitters
2 oz whiskey
lemon twist and cherry if you have ’em
- Fill glass half full with ice (or use one or two big fancy ice cubes). Add in simple syrup, bitters, and whiskey. Stir to mix and add garnishes.
- Drink up!
Whiskey Sour
2 oz whiskey
juice of 1/2 lemon
1 teaspoon powdered sugar
citrus slice to garnish
- Fill cocktail shaker half full with ice. Add lemon, whiskey, and powdered sugar. Shake until blended.
- Strain into ice-filled cocktail glass and garnish with lemon slice.
Klondike Cooler
1/2 teaspoon powdered sugar
3/4 oz ginger ale (I used ginger beer since that’s what I have and honestly, not sure what the difference is)
1 3/4 oz whiskey
sparkling water
lemon twist
- Put sugar into chilled glass and add ginger ale. Stir until sugar is dissolved.
- Add ice to glass and pour whiskey over.
- Top with sparkling water and stir to mix. Garnish with lemon twist.
I’m sure I’ll have more whiskey recipes later but let me know if I’m missing one of your favorite easy cocktail recipes!
xoxo,
J
