If you couldn’t tell from the name of this blog, I love champagne. It makes anything feel like a celebration, which is fun in normal situations and even more fun now. Here are a few ways to spice up your champagne even more:
Mimosa
Champagne
Juice (typically orange juice, but I also like grapefruit juice)
- Fill glass 3/4 of the way with champagne. Top with a splash of juice.
- Ta da!
Aperol Spritz
Champagne
Aperol
Ice
Soda water
Orange slice or olives for garnish
- Fill a glass with ice. Pour equal parts Aperol and champagne over the ice. (Start with 2 oz of each and add more as desired.)
- Top with soda water (I use my soda stream)–fill to the top of your glass.
- Garnish with orange slice if you want the drink to move in a sweeter direction and olives if you want it to move in a savory direction.
French 75
2 oz gin
Champagne
1/2 oz lemon juice
1 tsp powdered sugar
Lemon slice for garnish (if you want)
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Combine gin, lemon juice, and powdered sugar in the cocktail shaker and shake for 15 seconds or until cold.
- Pour into a champagne glass and top with champagne.
- Garnish with lemon slice.
Fun things to add to your champagne to spice it up (even if you don’t want to make a whole cocktail)
- Add a candy cane to your champagne to give it a mint splash (bonus: it makes the drink extra fizzy).
- Add raspberries or strawberries to your glass as a fun garnish for color.
- Add apples and apple cider for a fall twist on a mimosa.
- Use cranberry juice for a holiday twist on a mimosa.
Hope you can use one of these suggestions to turn a regular #HouseboundHappyHour into an extra special fancy feeling one!
xoxo,
J
