One of the things I’m trying to do this year is buy from small businesses. I touched on this a bit in a previous post about small DC businesses, but I thought it could be fun (and maybe helpful) to share a larger list of places I have placed orders! I’m not going to get too specific about what I bought from these shops because the gift recipients read this blog, but these are businesses I’m super excited about so I want to share!
Salt and Sundry. This is a super cute shop in DC that stocks beautiful goods from smaller makers and designers. Many are local, but they source from all over the world. They have amazing gift guides, including a guide that lists all their products from BIPOC makers.
Equilibria. A woman-owned CBD shop that offers one-on-one consultations with experts to help you figure out how to make CBD work for you. I use their products every day and they’re game changers, especially during this pandemic. They added holiday gift sets this year that I’m super excited about. If you’re ordering from them for the first time you can get $20 with my code: REFJOSLINSCHULTZ.
Brightland. An amazing olive oil company. I’m in love with their olive oils and have given them as gifts many times. It sounds silly, but a good olive oil is a huge factor in making your food taste delicious. I’m a huge fan of their flavored oils, particularly the chili olive oil. I recommend checking out the recipes on their site as well.
Scratch Pasta Co. A small business that makes beautiful pastas in such fun flavors. I bought these as a gift and I’m so so excited to get feedback on the flavors since I think they sound delicious. Honestly I wanted to order one of everything on their site.
Spark by Gabby. My friend (and my former fave spin instructor) started her own business during COVID. It’s an all-virtual wellness platform where she offers a variety of live classes via Zoom. She also records all the classes so you can access them afterwards if you can’t make the class times! All Spark instructors are great at offering modifications that allow you to push yourself without hurting yourself. A great way to sweat at home, wherever you live.
El Cholo’s Kid. These bags. Wow. This is a Latina-owned company that makes bags that are woven out of recycled plastic. I bought one after being ~influenced~ and I have used it excessively. The medium size is ideal for holding everything you need–books, a blanket, snacks, wine, etc.
These are just a few of the places I’ve been looking for gifts this year (for myself and for others). Happy to share more gift ideas if y’all are interested, but I know bigger bloggers than me likely have that covered!
xoxo,
J
