Like most people, when I moved into my first apartment (okay, it was my second–my first was furnished) I had nothing except clothes and books. I’m talking furniture, bedding, cleaning supplies, kitchen tools, dishes. I was living on the other side of the country from my family so it wasn’t cost-effective to ship boxes from my parents’ garage so I ended up having to pretty much purchase everything I needed all at once. For a long time my apartment was like 90% made up of thrift store finds and Target’s Room Essentials dorm line. And it worked (for the most part)!
But now here I am, a few years later, and the things I bought for my first apartment are either falling apart (I guess that’s to be expected for things designed for college dorm rooms) or are just in need of an upgrade (in part because they’ve gotten extra use over the past year). So I’ve been putting together a Lust List of things to eventually purchase in my quest to invest in higher quality pieces that will last a much longer time.
So first up is new pots and pans! I have a gorgeous Le Creuset dutch oven and stock pot but my other pots and pans are definitely not doing great. I recently upgraded some of the pans by purchasing an Always pan, which I could not love more, but I still find myself needing a few others. I’ve been eyeing this Family Style set from Great Jones which I have only heard amazing things about. It’s the perfect number of pots and pans and I love that the lids are interchangeable!
Also from Great Jones is the Fully Baked set. One of my kitchen goals is to get more into baking so this would definitely help on that front, but I also use sheet pans and casserole dishes for cooking! I love the fun colors and the details on the ceramics!
On the appliance front I know I need to upgrade my coffee maker. I think I’ve been using this $20 pot for way longer than I should be but I just can’t decide what kind of coffee maker to replace it with! Ideally I would LOVE one machine that makes both drip coffee and espresso, but those are pretty hard to come by at a reasonable price. So the search continues. (To be honest a big part of this struggle is that I’m unwilling to go the Nespresso/Keurig route.)
Finally on the Lust List is a cold press juicer. This one is completely unnecessary but wow how great would it be to have a juicer??? To be able to make your own fruit juice or green juice or finally get on that celery juice train like three years late? (Sounds like exactly how long it takes me to jump on a trend.) I really do love bougie juices–when we could go out and walk around and do things I loved to pop into JRINK or another local juice shop and grab a bottle for my walk. So I think it would be amazing to have a juicer.
What’s on your kitchen Lust List? Anything I should add to mine?
xoxo,
J
